Desi Ghee in ancient India has been one of the key ingredients in almost all Indian recipes. This traditional unsalted butter is commonly used for making clarified butter. It is a very popular ingredient in Indian cuisine. In India, this ghee is well known to be a healthy fat that does not increase the cholesterol level in the body unlike other saturated fats present in the food. Research has shown that the unsaturated fats present in the Indian butter are very effective in decreasing blood cholesterol levels.

The butter is extracted from the pure cow milk after collecting the milkfat. After separation, the fat is collected and stored in a refrigerator. This butter is melted in a heavy bottom pan and then allowed to boil for a few minutes until the milk solids are removed. One can make a delicious recipe by adding one to two tablespoon of desi ghee. An alternative way of using this pure ghee is by using it as cooking oil.

This clarified butter can be easily available at any local store where one can buy milk and yogurt and other dairy products. This delicious Indian treat is easy to prepare. One just needs to buy a good quality ghee. Grass-fed ghee is considered to be the best in its form. The process of making ghee in dairy firms are different from the traditional method of making.
